《Xiaoxiang Cultivation World》 is currently the most complete Eastern fantasy cultivation mod for Minecraft 1.20.1, and its core is a well-defined and interconnected Cultivation System. Whether you want to experience the tension of breaking through realms, release world-destroying spells after accumulating Qi, or sit quietly on a meditation cushion to feel the Qi slowly flowing in—the starting point for everything is understanding this cultivation system.
This article is a complete tutorial for the 《Xiaoxiang Cultivation World》 cultivation system, covering 11 major cultivation realms, 23 types of techniques, 25 types of spells, the spirit stone system, Qi attributes, and all custom UI operation instructions. Whether you are a beginner just entering the game or an experienced player looking to understand the mod mechanisms more systematically, this guide is for you.

In the cultivation system of 《Xiaoxiang Cultivation World》, Techniques (Cultivation Technique) are the prerequisite for everything. Without equipping a technique, the Qi HUD will not display, meditating on a cushion will not absorb Qi, and no spells can be used—the entire cultivation system is essentially locked. Therefore, the first step on the path of cultivation is to obtain and equip your first technique.
After obtaining the book, right-click to learn the basic “Technique Fragment,” then go to the “Technique Tab” in the cultivation panel (press G) and click to equip it. The cultivation HUD will appear, and you will officially begin your journey.

《Xiaoxiang Cultivation World》 currently features 23 types of techniques, each providing different combinations of attribute bonuses: attack damage, defense, movement speed, spell power, and various passive effects. As you unlock more technique books through exploration, switching to higher-tier techniques can significantly improve cultivation efficiency and combat capability.
The cultivation system features 11 cultivation realms, climbing from the lowest “Mortal” all the way to the highest “True Immortal.” Each realm is further divided into four sub-stages: Early, Middle, Late, and Great Perfection, totaling 44 cultivation milestones. The overall realm structure follows traditional Xianxia settings, providing players with a steady sense of achievement.
Every realm breakthrough is more than just pressing a button—the Heavenly Tribulation is the real test. The breakthrough process is as follows: once the Qi bar is full, press the “Breakthrough” button in the cultivation panel; the tribulation descends, and 1 to 100 lightning bolts strike from the sky (the higher the realm, the more strikes); players must survive the lightning to successfully advance. At higher realms, facing dozens or even a hundred lightning strikes is a thrilling experience that is hard to replicate in other mods. It is recommended to prepare enough food and spirit stones before breaking through and choose an open area to avoid destroying precious buildings.

Qi is the core resource of the Xiaoxiang Cultivation World system, used to fill the realm bar, cast spells, and activate various passive effects. Qi is distributed throughout the game world in the form of floating particle orbs, which players can automatically absorb by walking near them. Different biomes produce different colors of Qi: snow biomes generate ice-blue particles (Ice attribute), lava areas generate fire-red particles (Fire attribute), forests generate dark green particles (Wood attribute), and common terrain generates pure white particles (Non-attribute Qi).

Find or craft a Meditation Cushion, place it on the ground, and right-click to sit and meditate. During meditation, the Qi absorption speed is 10x normal, making it the best way to quickly accumulate Qi and rush through realms. Double-tap the sneak key to stand up when finished.
Absorbing Qi of different attributes affects your spell damage and special effects. The more you accumulate a certain attribute, the more powerful spells of that attribute become: Metal can double sword aura damage; Ice adds freezing + slowness + blindness on hit; Wood causes powerful toxins; Fire causes continuous burning; Water causes enemies to drown; Earth adds a weakness effect. It is recommended to focus on cultivating in corresponding biomes based on your preferred spell types.
Spirit stones are “solidified Qi” in the Xiaoxiang Cultivation World system. They can be consumed directly to convert into Qi and are also important resources for crafting technique books and other materials. They are divided into 4 tiers: Low-grade (10 Qi) obtained by mining underground ores; 9 Low-grade can be crafted into 1 Medium-grade (100 Qi); 9 Medium-grade into 1 High-grade (1,000 Qi); and 9 High-grade into 1 Top-grade Spirit Stone (10,000 Qi). Each tier has corresponding ores hidden deep underground. Preparing a large number of spirit stones before a high-realm breakthrough is a wise cultivation strategy.
There are 25 types of spells in the system. After learning them from spell books, assign them to the spell wheel for casting. Operation: Hold V to open the spell wheel, move the mouse to select a spell, and release V to confirm; press R to cast, and long-press R to charge (some spells have a charging mechanism that significantly increases power).

Top-grade · Active · Charging spell. Tap R to release a basic 1-block wide fireball; long-press R to continue charging, and the fireball diameter, explosion radius, and number of projectiles will grow exponentially. Charging until Qi is exhausted can release a devastating 80-block wide giant ball—entire hills can be leveled.
Top-grade · Passive spell. When equipped, you can fly freely like in Creative Mode (double-jump to activate + Space to rise + Sneak to descend), continuously consuming Qi. It automatically cancels when Qi is exhausted, so remember to reserve enough Qi before falling.
Top-grade · Active · Charging spell. Hold a sword and long-press R: summon waves of flying swords that track the crosshair target and re-lock after impact. When fully charged, sword light fills the sky, and no nearby entity can escape.

Immortal-grade · Fire attribute · Active · Charging spell. Tap (1,000 Qi): A single meteor falls from the sky, with power about 2x that of a Great Fireball. Long-press (1,000+ Qi per second): Continuous meteor shower, turning the target area into a sea of fire. Fully charge for 5 seconds (10,000 Qi): Summon a 20-block wide super meteor that slowly descends from 200 blocks above, with an explosion power 20x that of a tapped Great Fireball. The shockwave spreads outward, a mushroom cloud rises, and the thunder can be heard 1,920 blocks away.

Top-grade · Metal attribute · Passive spell. Hold a sword and left-click the air or a block to release a flying arc of sword aura, consuming 50 Qi, with a base damage of 100 (200 with Metal attribute). Hits apply different status effects based on current Qi attributes, making it a versatile output skill for mid-stage cultivation.

Immortal-grade · Metal attribute · Active · Charging spell. Use while holding a sword: Tap (1,000 Qi) to release an arc sword aura 3x larger, which can penetrate normal blocks to form a tunnel, dealing 50 damage to each entity. Fully charge (3,000 Qi): Release a 30x larger “Giant Sky-Splitting Sword Aura” that sweeps at a speed of 6 blocks per tick, dealing 1,000 damage to each entity and cutting a giant terrain tunnel along its path, leaving a white sky trail for 30 seconds.
The Xiaoxiang Cultivation World system is equipped with a dedicated custom interface. Press G to open the cultivation panel, which includes three tabs: the Stats Tab shows the current realm, Qi bar, and attribute bonuses, with a “Breakthrough” button appearing when the Qi bar is full; the Technique Tab shows all learned techniques, which can be switched by clicking; and the Spell Tab lists all learned spells. The spell wheel (hold V) allows you to quickly switch spells during combat, making the operation intuitive and smooth.
The cultivation system of 《Xiaoxiang Cultivation World》 is one of the most complete designs among current Minecraft Xianxia mods. From equipping your first technique to absorbing Qi, cultivating realms, facing Heavenly Tribulations, and learning spells—every link is interconnected, bringing a real sense of growth and achievement. 11 realms × 44 sub-stages mean this is a journey that requires long-term investment. Every realm breakthrough and every successful casting of a world-shaking Star Fall will be the most memorable moments of this journey.
