While the Honkai: Star Rail 3rd Anniversary Version 4.2, “And the Cosmos Shall Laugh,” has just officially launched, exciting information about the next update has already been revealed. Version 4.3 is expected to debut on June 3, 2026, bringing the long-awaited character: Mortenax Blade (also known as SP Blade). Simultaneously, the highly acclaimed Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] Collab Wave 2 will also arrive in the same version. The addition of Gilgamesh and Rin Tohsaka makes this update one of the most significant of the second half of 2026.
Whether you are a long-time fan of Blade, a Fate enthusiast, or a Trailblazer looking to plan your Stellar Jades, this article provides a comprehensive look at the 4.3 information.

“Blade” is a limited 5-star character added to Honkai: Star Rail in Version 1.1 in 2023. He follows the Path of Destruction with the Wind Type, known for high HP-scaling damage and powerful self-healing. His backstory is equally impressive: his real name is unknown, and he was once the strongest Stellaron Hunter of the Xianzhou Alliance. To achieve an unspeakable goal, he allowed himself to be forged by the fires of Mortenax—exchanging pain for power and memories for his blade.
The original Blade’s skills revolve around consuming Max HP for burst output, performing exceptionally well with supports like Robin, Ruan Mei, and Sparkle. However, as versions progressed, his strength was gradually surpassed by newer characters. The introduction of the SP form is HoYoverse’s way of breathing new life into him.

HoYoverse officially revealed Mortenax Blade’s character info on April 7, 2026. In terms of design, Mortenax Blade completely abandons the black longsword attire of the original, opting for red and white bandages wrapped around his body, black trousers, and combat boots. The most shocking visual element is the raging flame burning directly from his heart—a burning heart beneath a cold shell, forming a sharp contrast with his “dead ash” state of mind. In the storyline, his new form is deeply connected to the “Stellaron Man of Abundance,” Shuhu.

| Item | Original Blade | Mortenax Blade (SP Blade) |
|---|---|---|
| Type | Wind | Fire |
| Path | Destruction | Nihility |
| Role | HP-scaling Main DPS | Universal Support / Top-tier Vulnerability |
| Power Tier | High (Requires specific team) | Top-tier (Versatility close to Ruan Mei) |
According to reliable info, Mortenax Blade’s power level is equivalent to top-tier supports like Ruan Mei and Sparkle. As a Vulnerability-based support, he can apply a powerful and unique “Vulnerability” debuff to all enemies while providing a significant ATK boost to the entire team, making him suitable for almost any mainstream DPS character.

Phase 1 of 4.3 will feature Mortenax Blade as the exclusive banner, meaning he is the only new 5-star character in the first half. This provides a friendly pulling environment without competing for Stellar Jade budgets with other new characters.
Phase 1 usually includes 2-3 rerun characters. Based on version intervals and story progress, the following characters have the highest probability: Cyrene—Ice Type, Path of Remembrance, first appeared in 3.7; and Cerydra—Wind Type, Path of Harmony, first appeared in 3.5, whose ability to let teammates cast skills twice synergizes perfectly with Mortenax Blade’s energy cycle.

Gilgamesh is a 5-star limited collab character, expected to arrive as a powerful burst-type DPS. His Ultimate, “Enuma Elish,” is anticipated to challenge the top visual quality in the game. Given his overwhelming strength in the original Fate series, players expect his stats and skill effects in HSR to be equally impressive.

The first collab wave gave away a free 5-star Archer, so the community widely expects the second wave to repeat this generosity. Rin Tohsaka is the most popular candidate for a free 5-star character. If confirmed, it is still recommended to save Stellar Jades for her signature Light Cone.

As a universal top-tier support, Mortenax Blade is particularly suitable if your account lacks high-quality Nihility supports (like Ruan Mei, Sparkle, or Dahlia), or if you use teams like Firefly Break or Feiying Elation that require heavy debuff stacking. His “Vulnerability” bonus will remain valuable across various game modes. From an investment perspective, E0S1 is the most cost-effective configuration.

Version 4.3 is expected to launch on June 3, 2026, about 40 days from now. Through daily missions, Simulated Universe, Pure Fiction, Memory of Chaos, and Version 4.2 events, players can accumulate resources. It is recommended to have at least 80+ pulls saved before the banner arrives.

After 4.3, Version 4.4 is expected to introduce SP Himeko and the important story character Stella; Version 4.6 might see SP Aventurine. Members of the IPC’s Ten Stonehearts and the Genius Society are also in the development pipeline. In other words, the banner pressure in the second half of 2026 will be intense.
The appearance of Mortenax Blade represents more than just a powerful support; it’s a mature demonstration of HoYoverse’s “reinterpretation” of early characters. SP Blade doesn’t try to copy his original role but uses a new story logic and gameplay structure to tell everyone: “He is still here, just burning in a different way.” 4.3 is a version you cannot afford to miss.
