This month’s lineup is rich with highlights, featuring three distinct titles: the PS5-exclusive Ming Dynasty Soulslike action RPG “Wuchang: Fallen Feathers“, the pride of Taiwan’s indie games “Nine Sols“, and the soccer simulation masterpiece “EA SPORTS FC 26“. Below, our editor introduces them one by one!

“EA SPORTS FC 26” is the latest installment in the soccer simulation series formerly known as “FIFA”. Its inclusion in PS Plus allows more players to experience this year’s most popular sports game. The game features over 750 clubs and national teams, more than 20,000 players, over 120 stadiums, and more than 35 leagues, authentically recreating the atmosphere of top-tier global soccer matches.
The gameplay experience has been completely revamped based on feedback from the FC community, offering “Tactical” and “Competitive” preset modes for players to choose based on their style. The Football Ultimate Team mode adds more tournaments and live event options, with Rivals and Champs modes also receiving a complete overhaul.
Notably, during the PS Plus monthly game availability period, PlayStation Plus members can also claim the exclusive add-on content “EA SPORTS FC 26 PlayStation Plus Icons Pack“. FUT mode fans definitely shouldn’t miss this!

The most anticipated heavy hitter this month is undoubtedly “Wuchang: Fallen Feathers“. Developed by Chinese studio Lingze Games and published by 505 Games, this Soulslike action RPG officially launched on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on July 24, 2025. It is surprising to see it join the PS Plus Essential monthly games lineup less than a year after its release.
The story is set in the turbulent late Ming Dynasty. Players take on the role of “Wuchang,” a female warrior who has lost her memory and wakes up in the Shu region. The land is ravaged by warring factions and a mysterious plague called “Feathering“—those infected gradually mutate into hideous monsters. Wuchang herself is infected, and players must explore a vast, interconnected world, uncovering the truth behind the chaos while battling various brutal enemies.

“Wuchang: Fallen Feathers” features a rich and diverse Soulslike combat system, with key features including:

The game received decent reviews from media after launch, with many critics praising it as a “deep Soulslike game” with satisfying and complex combat. It is worth noting that the IP rights for “Wuchang” were acquired by Digital Bros Group in 2026 for approximately 4 million Euros; although the original development team has disbanded, the story of this work continues.

“Nine Sols” is a 2D action platformer developed by the renowned Taiwanese indie game studio Red Candle Games. It first launched on Steam on May 29, 2024, and arrived on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and other consoles on November 26 of the same year. This game not only achieved “Overwhelmingly Positive” status on Steam but is also considered one of the most proud local works in the Taiwanese gaming community in recent years.

“Nine Sols” constructs a unique universe that blends Taoist Sci-Fi (Tao-punk) with ancient mythology. Players embody the vengeful hero “Yi” on a journey to slay the nine powerful rulers, the “Nine Sols,” who govern this abandoned land. The game is set in a mysterious land once ruled by an ancient alien race, offering a highly original world-building experience.
The combat system is inspired by “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice,” with “Parry” and “Counter” as core mechanics, testing players’ reflexes and timing. Players can accumulate “Qi” through parrying and detonate pre-placed talismans, creating a unique and rhythmic combat style. Every boss fight requires deep learning and precise responses, offering a significant challenge.
“Nine Sols” is presented entirely in hand-drawn style, including backgrounds, animations, and cutscene comics, with a visual style that blends classic Japanese animation aesthetics, leaving a lasting impression. In completing this work, Red Candle Games has demonstrated the competitiveness of Taiwanese indie games on the international stage.

The PS Plus lineup for May this year is arguably one of the highest-quality months in recent times. For “Wuchang: Fallen Feathers” to join the monthly games less than a year after release is a rare opportunity for players who haven’t jumped in yet—the game’s combat system, world-building, and Chinese historical background design all showcase the formidable production strength of Lingze Games.
As for “Nine Sols,” the labor of love from Taiwan’s Red Candle Games, its inclusion on PS Plus signifies that Taiwanese indie games have officially entered the view of hundreds of millions of PS Plus players worldwide, which is a great honor for the Taiwanese gaming industry. Whether you are a Soulslike player who loves high-difficulty challenges or a fan of beautifully hand-drawn 2D action games, the May lineup will satisfy your needs.
