After nearly two years of waiting, the world’s most anticipated dark isekai anime is finally back! Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Season 4 officially began broadcasting on April 8, 2026, bringing a two-part adaptation of the original novel’s sixth arc, “Corridor of Memories”—the Loss Arc and the Recapture Arc. As of April 30, the fourth episode of the Loss Arc has aired, and the story has officially entered the Pleiades Watchtower. This article compiles all known information for Season 4, including plot background, broadcast schedule, character introductions, voice cast, and the rich content of the 10th-anniversary commemorative project!

Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- is a light novel series written by Tappei Nagatsuki (illustrated by Shinichirou Otsuka), serialized since 2012 on the novel submission platform “Shōsetsuka ni Narō” and officially published by KADOKAWA. The anime is produced by the renowned studio WHITE FOX. The first season aired in 2016 and became an instant hit, becoming the most discussed isekai anime of the year.
The protagonist, Natsuki Subaru, is an ordinary high school student who is suddenly transported to another world. The only ability he possesses is “Return by Death“—every time he dies, he returns to a specific point in time, but only he remembers the pain of each death. This setting allows Re:ZERO to break away from traditional “overpowered reincarnation” tropes, leaving a deep mark on anime fans worldwide with its brutal psychological warfare and accumulating emotional depth.

Season 4 adopts the Split Cour format common in recent anime, divided into two broadcast periods:
【Loss Arc】 11 episodes in total, airing every Wednesday starting April 8, 2026. The story adapts the first half of the “Corridor of Memories” from Volume 21 of the original novel. As of April 30, four episodes have aired, with 7 episodes remaining, expected to conclude in mid-June.
【Recapture Arc】 8 episodes in total, scheduled to air starting August 12, 2026. The story adapts the second half of the “Corridor of Memories,” where the final battle of Subaru’s group in a desperate situation will be fully presented.
Global audiences can watch online via Crunchyroll.

Following the battle in the Watergate City (Pristella Arc) in Season 3, Subaru and his companions defeated the Sin Archbishop of “Gluttony” but paid a heavy price:
The sleeping Rem—her name was taken by the power of “Gluttony,” and she remains in a deep slumber, with her memories of Subaru gone; no one in the world remembers her. Julius Juukulius, Subaru’s former rival and partner, also had his name consumed by “Gluttony,” erasing everyone’s memory of him, and even Subaru cannot make others believe Julius exists. Crusch Karsten lost her past memories due to the Sin Archbishop of “Lust,” becoming a completely different person.
To find clues to save these companions, Subaru learns of a legend: at the edge of the world lies a mysterious tower called the Pleiades Watchtower, inhabited by a “Sage” named Shaula, who is said to see through everything and possess infinite knowledge. Subaru leads Emilia, Beatrice, Anastasia, Ram, and the nameless Julius on a lonely journey to the watchtower.
However, the watchtower is not easily entered. Besides the “Sage,” it hides three “Witch Factors Guardians”—representing nearly invincible warriors—and the demons of the Gluttony line, Roy Alphard and Lui Arneb, who were responsible for taking Rem and Julius’s names. The greatest “curse” of Arc 6 is that Subaru cannot use “Return by Death” inside the watchtower. Facing a life-or-death crisis, Subaru must, for the first time, bear all consequences without the guarantee of a “redo.”

The protagonist, an ordinary Japanese high school student transported to another world with the ability “Return by Death.” In Arc 6, Subaru faces his greatest psychological test yet—when the “chance to redo” is gone and companions fall one by one, can he still carry everyone’s hope? Yusuke Kobayashi’s performance in the first three seasons was top-tier, and his emotional acting in Season 4’s extreme situations is highly anticipated.
A half-elf girl with silver hair and eyes, the royal candidate Subaru deeply loves. Arc 6 is one of the rare chapters where Emilia serves as the core of the plot; she will face “trials” in the watchtower, forced to confront the truth of her past sealed deep in her memories. Rie Takahashi’s work has become increasingly diverse, and Emilia’s growth arc in Season 4 is worth watching closely.
The popular character Rem, voiced by Inori Minase, fell into a deep sleep after her name was taken by “Gluttony” in Season 3, remaining Subaru’s greatest regret. In Arc 6, while she remains asleep, her “fate” in the watchtower will see significant progress—a major plot point long-awaited by novel fans. Whether Inori Minase can deliver a heartbreaking performance here is one of the season’s biggest highlights.

Rem’s older sister and a maid at the Roswaal mansion. Ram’s presence increases significantly in Arc 6; her longing and protection for her sleeping sister Rem are central emotional threads. Rie Murakawa’s Ram remains one of the most recognizable voice performances in the series.
The small spirit who calls herself the “Guardian of the Library,” Subaru’s contracted spirit and beloved partner. Beatrice’s tenderness and determination in protecting Subaru during the Watchtower Arc are among the series’ most moving bonds.
Anastasia’s knight, holder of the title “Greatest Knight,” whose name was consumed by “Gluttony.” Arc 6 sees the greatest expansion of Julius’s character arc—”how a person forgotten by the world continues to fight without a name.” Takuya Eguchi’s performance will present the most profound side of this character.

The most anticipated new character in Arc 6 is undoubtedly the “Sage” Shaula. She is voiced by Fairouz Ai, whose popularity has soared recently with roles like Eris in Mushoku Tensei and Jolyne in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.
Shaula is a mysterious girl living on the top floor of the Pleiades Watchtower. She claims to be the legendary “Sage,” but her behavior is unexpectedly unlike a “wise person”—even somewhat innocent and showing unusual intimacy toward Subaru. Her strange relationship with Subaru and the mystery of her true identity are among Arc 6’s biggest suspense points. Novel fans agree that Shaula is one of the series’ most impactful character introductions.
Additionally, legendary voice actor Tomokazu Sugita (Gintoki in Gintama) will appear as Reid Astrea. Reid is the legendary “First Sword Saint,” one of the strongest guardians in the watchtower trials and a peak power in the series. Sugita paired with a character marketed as the “strongest” has fans overflowing with excitement.

The theme song lineup for Season 4 is a dream team:
Opening Theme “Recollect” is performed by Konomi Suzuki feat. Ashnikko. Konomi Suzuki is a Re:ZERO veteran—she sang the first season’s OP “Redo.” Her return after many years brought tears to old fans’ eyes. Paired with British rapper Ashnikko, this collaboration sparked cheers at AnimeJapan 2026. The title “Recollect” perfectly echoes the theme of “recovering stolen memories and names.”
Ending Theme “Ender Ember” is performed by MYTH & ROID feat. TK (from Ling tosite sigure). MYTH & ROID are also Re:ZERO veterans (OP “STYX HELIX,” ED “Memento”), while TK is a top name in Japanese rock. Their collaboration promises an emotionally layered, epic ending theme.

Season 4 is produced by WHITE FOX, continuing the team from previous seasons. Directed by Masahiro Shinohara, with series composition by Masahiro Yokotani. Most reassuringly, original author Tappei Nagatsuki is personally serving as Script Supervisor, ensuring the anime’s faithfulness and emotional depth.
Character design and chief animation direction are handled by Haruka Sagawa, maintaining the series’ consistent visual style. Music is by Kenichiro Suehiro, the series’ regular composer since Season 1.
2026 marks the 10th anniversary of the Re:ZERO anime! KADOKAWA and the production committee have launched a series of anniversary projects:
The official “Re:ZERO 10th Anniversary Party ~Premium Night~” featured the main cast and revealed the second PV and theme song info. Special commemorative visuals and concept videos were also released, letting fans feel the emotional weight of the series’ ten-year journey.
Additionally, Re:ZERO collaborated with the mobile game Puzzle & Dragons, bringing limited materials for Rem, Emilia, and others. Official exhibitions and stage greetings were also announced for fans in Japan.
Notably, on April 1st (April Fools’), an office-themed spoof game project called Re:ZERO -Starting Office Life- was launched, with a script by Tappei Nagatsuki, featuring Subaru and Julius in suits as elite white-collar workers. The promo video immediately went viral among fans.

If you’re a new viewer joining for Season 4, or if your memory of the first three seasons is a bit fuzzy, here is the essential recap:
Season 1 (Arcs 1-3): Subaru is transported to another world, meets Emilia, and overcomes various crises through “Return by Death” during the royal selection struggle. Subaru confesses to Emilia, who becomes his most important person to protect.
Season 2 (Arc 4): The White Whale and Sin Archbishop trials; Rem’s famous “I love you” scene; the trials at the Sanctuary and the truth of Emilia’s memories; and Subaru’s unwavering confession to Emilia after a failed confession and Rem’s proposal to elope.
Season 3 (Arc 5): The battle in Pristella against the Sin Archbishops of Gluttony and Lust. A narrow victory is achieved, but Rem falls into a slumber after her name is taken, and Julius’s name is also stolen. Subaru carries these wounds to the Pleiades Watchtower—the starting point of Season 4.
As a fan since Season 1, Season 4 is the most anticipated yet nerve-wracking season for me. The reason is simple: Arc 6 “Corridor of Memories” is widely considered by the light novel community to be the most emotionally impactful and plot-dense chapter in the series.
What does the absence of “Return by Death” mean? For viewers, the first three seasons built a sense of security that “no matter how bad it gets, Subaru can redo it.” In the watchtower, that safety net is gone. Every “death” is real, and every “goodbye” could be forever. This cruelty in creative choice will push Season 4’s tension to unprecedented heights.
Whether you are a “Rem fan” or an “Emilia fan,” Arc 6 will give you plenty of emotional payoff—but remember to have tissues ready. This chapter isn’t just about heartbreak; it also features thrilling counterattacks and Subaru’s core spirit of “relying on willpower, not just ability” in desperate straits.
I strongly recommend those who haven’t caught up to start from Season 1 while Season 4 is airing. Re:ZERO’s emotional buildup is cumulative; the more you know the previous story, the more precious every scene in Season 4 becomes. Previous seasons are available on Crunchyroll.

Loss Arc: 11 episodes, starting April 8, 2026, updated every Wednesday.
Recapture Arc: 8 episodes, expected starting August 12, 2026.
