NTE Esper Zero 1.0 Build Guide: Arcs, Modules & Teams

《Neverness to Everness》(NTE)was officially launched on all platforms on April 29, 2026. The most unique existence in the game is the protagonist that every player can obtain for free—Esper Zero. Zero is not just a “placeholder” character to be discarded after the opening; they are a clearly positioned Light-attribute Cosmic Main DPS in version 1.0. More importantly, Zero is currently the only character capable of “Instant Sync”—filling the Sync value with just one E-skill, making the team rotation much smoother. This article will provide appraisers with a complete guide to building Zero, covering skill mechanics, best Arcs, Module sets, Awakening node priority, and team recommendations!

Core Mechanics: Instant Sync and Cosmic Damage System

To maximize Zero’s output, you must first understand the core resource of NTE combat—the Esper Cycle, and Zero’s unique advantage, “Instant Sync.” The Esper Cycle is accumulated through basic attacks, using skills, or perfect parries. Zero’s E-skill has an extremely high cycle charging rate, quickly filling the Esper Cycle bar and triggering Cosmic reaction damage.

Zero is currently the only character in the version capable of Instant Sync, filling the Sync value just by casting the E-skill. This trait makes Zero indispensable in the following two core systems:

  • Genesis System: Paired with Nanally/Mint, triggering Genesis reactions through Sync is Zero’s preferred output system.
  • Accumulation System: Paired with Hathor, Zero can trigger additional healing effects during the Accumulation cycle, improving overall team survivability.

Zero’s core combat logic is divided into three layers:

  1. On-field Basic Attacks: Zero’s basic attack is a 5-hit combo that maintains output and accumulates Esper Cycle energy, forming the foundation of the rotation.
  2. E-Skill Core Damage: “Appraise and Engrave” is the core DPS skill—a 3-hit combo followed by an upward charge and Cosmic bombardment. It deals an additional 200% ATK as Cosmic damage to enemies whose level does not exceed Zero’s.
  3. Ultimate Burst: “Divide by Zero” converts all accumulated energy into massive damage. Combined with the passive “Anomaly Perception,” it deals an extra 25% damage, serving as Zero’s core burst window.

Skill Details and Upgrade Priority

Below is Zero’s complete skill list and effect descriptions:

Skill NameTypeEffect Description
Identification SlashBasic ATKUp to 5-hit combo, maintains on-field output, accumulates Esper Cycle energy.
Appraise and EngraveSkill (Core)3-hit combo → Upward charge → Cosmic bombardment; deals 200% ATK extra Cosmic damage to lower-level enemies.
Divide by ZeroUltimateMulti-stage Cosmic damage; deals 25% extra damage with “Anomaly Perception.” Zero’s core burst.
Rift BloomSwitch (QTE)Detonates rifts for 2 stages of Cosmic damage, triggered by specific teammate actions.

Skill Upgrade Priority

Suggested upgrade order: E-Skill (Appraise and Engrave) > Ultimate (Divide by Zero) > Basic ATK. The E-skill is not only the core output tool but also the key to driving the entire Esper Cycle rhythm; the Ultimate follows as the main burst window; Basic ATK can be leveled once the core rotation is stable.

Best Arc Recommendations

Arcs are the weapon equipment slots in NTE, directly affecting Zero’s output ceiling. Here are the top three Arc recommendations for Zero:

PriorityArc NameMain StatCore Effect
🏆 Best ChoicePeerless RainATK 512 / Crit Rate 22%Skill & Ultimate Cosmic DMG +42%; using skill increases Sync Intensity by 72 for 15s (refreshable).
🥈 Second Choice (Boss)Heslu’s ProtectionATK 512 / ATK 27.5%Global ATK +25%, DMG to BOSS +25%; summons a guard adding 2% ATK DMG per hit for 30s.
🎮 F2P AlternativeDay OffATK 512 / Energy Regen 33%ATK +50% (unconditional); each kill restores 10 Ultimate energy (max 5 times), 300s CD.

“Peerless Rain” is tailor-made for Zero’s core output window. F2P players can use “Day Off” early on—the 50% global ATK bonus is unconditional and very beginner-friendly. For Boss challenges, “Heslu’s Protection” with its 25% Boss damage bonus is also worth considering.

Best Module Set Recommendations

Modules are the core of the NTE equipment system. The right set choice significantly boosts Zero’s output efficiency. Here is the most recommended configuration for version 1.0:

Recommended Set: Lost Light (4-Piece)

Set NameSet EffectDescription
Lost Light2-PieceLight DMG +15%
Lost Light4-PieceAfter casting an Instant skill, Sync Intensity +20% for 8s

Why Lost Light? Zero is a Light-attribute Main DPS, and the Lost Light set perfectly fits their rotation: the 2-piece set boosts base output, while the 4-piece effect activates after triggering Instant Sync, aligning with Zero’s “Esper Cycle” rhythm to push Sync Intensity to the max during key windows.

Main Stat Priority

SlotPrimary StatSecondary Stat
Slot 3Light DMG BonusATK%
Slot 4ATK%Crit Rate
Slot 5Crit DMGCrit Rate
Slot 6ATK%Sync Intensity

Sub-stat Priority: Crit Rate (Target 60%+) > Crit DMG > ATK% > Sync Intensity > Flat ATK. Try to maintain a 1:2 ratio between Crit Rate and Crit DMG for stable and maximized burst.

Awakening Node Recommendations

Awakening nodes unlock Zero’s hidden potential. Here is the optimal Awakening path for version 1.0:

NodeNameEffectPriority
Awakening 1Light PulseInstant skill DMG +12%★★★★★
Awakening 2Sync ResonanceRestore 1 Esper point per second during Sync★★★★☆
Awakening 3Cosmic EyeCosmic skill Crit Rate +8%★★★★★
Awakening 4Chain LightAfter Basic ATK hits, next Instant skill DMG +15%★★★★☆
Awakening 5Esper BurstATK +10% when Esper Cycle is active★★★★★
Awakening 6Aurora EndSync Intensity cap +20, Sync DMG +15%★★★★★

Recommended Order: Awakening 1 → 3 → 5 → 6 → 4 → 2. Prioritize nodes that directly boost Instant skills and Crit stats to establish Zero’s core rotation; once Awakening 6 is unlocked, Sync damage will see a massive leap.

Best Team Comps

Team choice directly impacts Zero’s performance. Here are two mainstream team setups:

Option 1: Premium Meta Team (with Nanally)

Nanally Character Art
PositionCharacterRoleImportance
Main DPSZeroLight Cosmic CoreEssential
Support 1NanallySync Buff + Light DMG BoostHighly Recommended
Support 2HesluSync Intensity + ShieldRecommended
SupportAny HealerSurvivalAs needed

Nanally is currently Zero’s best support, significantly boosting Light damage and accelerating the Esper Cycle; Heslu provides stable Sync Intensity, allowing Zero to trigger Instant Sync faster.

Option 2: F2P Friendly Team

NTE Team Option 2
PositionCharacterRoleImportance

Support 1Standard BufferBase DMG BoostBased on roster

Even without premium supports, Zero is strong as the protagonist. Pair them with any standard characters that provide Sync Intensity or Light DMG boosts. New players can clear most content using free characters.

Editor’s Verdict: Is Zero Worth Building?

NTE Zero Editor Rating

As the protagonist of NTE, Zero is not only special in the story but also impressive in combat. The Light Cosmic system is top-tier in version 1.0. The “Esper Cycle” mechanic provides a rhythmic combat experience, and with the Peerless Rain Arc, the gameplay feels smooth with clear burst windows.

Note that Zero’s optimal output requires some practice—especially the timing of Instant Sync. We recommend new players master the basic Esper Cycle rhythm before optimizing the damage loop.
